Frequently Asked Questions

What do I call you for?

Call me or Whatsapp me if you need someone experienced to develop narrative media products that achieve your goals, all the way from rough idea to final product.

I especially love projects that are idealistic, complex and visionary in nature, important stories that exist within an ambiguous philosophical or political context.

Also, you can also ask me for creative coaching, creative consulting or lecturing and I give free advice to people who just entered the creative industry.

Why hire you specifically?

Having worked my way up from graphic designer to 3D-animator to script writer and film director and having collaborated with so many different organisations and creative teams, my experience is informed as well as hands-on.

I’d say the main benefit of working with me is that I can take your story from sketch to visual narrative in any medium or style, so the end result is focussed and strong.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. Although I prefer to fly as little as I can, I work for clients in different countries.

Can I ask you for a speaking engagement?

Yes, I have give event presentations, sometimes appear in podcasts and also regularly work as a guest lecturer at universities.

I teach on ‘the power of storytelling’, ‘the creative process’ and present case studies in media ethics at different universities.

Who do you (not) work for?

I love working in and around the spaces of science and education, environment, human rights and development, governance, and companies doing real good.

I also work for creative agencies and studios when they need my expertise for a specific project that is complex, abstract and/or politically sensitive and needs a human driven story.

I do not work for organisations somehow connected to harmful activities such as fossil fuel extraction, weapons trade, deforestation, tobacco, gambling, child labour, modern slavery or anything else that could reasonably be considered as harmful to people and/or planet.

Can you take on big projects?

Yes, I’ve worked with many different teams over the years, 3 to 45 people, to produce ‘big stories’ and I have a proven track record in creative team building and direction.

The benefit of flexible teams is that you only pay for the people a project needs and that the people you work with are involved especially for you so your money is spent on the right people in a fair way.

Do you take on smaller projects?

Of course — never hesitate to ask me for a smaller jobs, such as a writing job or organising a workshop. Actually, quick turnaround projects can be quite enjoyable. If somehow I feel I can’t take on a job because I’m too busy or because I feel it’s not the best match, I will always share my suggestions with you for professionals I’d recommend.

I like writing production plans with a directional vision, learn more about what I offer in services.

As a creative professional, can I work with or for you?

Possibly! I love collaborating with creative people from across the world, also remotely. I hire creative professionals and they hire me. Please do introduce yourself and fill out this form — you will always get a response from me!

I’m especially interested in storyboarders, illustrators, animators and anyone else somehow connected to these fields.

Do you offer internships?

Alas, I cannot facilitate interns given the fact that I’m too often ‘on-the-go’ or working with people remotely.

However; I am always up for making recommendations if a particular company comes to mind when you share with me what you’re looking. If you’ve just entering the creative industry and might intuitively feel that I could could help you think though an important question that’s been on your mind regarding your professional life, don’t hesitate to call me for advice, if I don’t know myself I might know someone who will.

How much does [product x] cost?

As films and other media products are always custom made and since the needs and goals of each client are so different, I can unfortunately not provide you with a clear-cut product menu or rate card. Instead, I suggest that you tell me about your story and intended audience and I’ll send you a quote.

My day rate for short jobs ranges from €600 to €900 depending on what I do. Rates of team members vary. For bigger projects I will often agree on a set project budget.

Whatever your rough plan or ballpark budget might look like, never hesitate to inquire early. Setting up a mutually beneficial deal is always my primary goal in any negotiation.
